Workforce Readiness Consultant
Contract Scope of Work
Foster Success is looking to expand its Workforce Readiness work in Northern Indiana and is seeking a partner in the region to help bring our vision to life. Building from the success of the organization’s Workforce Readiness programming in Central Indiana, the Workforce Consultant will advance the organization’s mission by ensuring teens and young adults have access to a continuum of programs and resources as they transition out of foster care. Working in close partnership with the Assistant Director of Program Delivery, the consultant will help ensure that Foster Success’ programs are delivered with care, consistency, and equity. This position will facilitate workforce readiness classes and on-the-job training programs, develop work experiences, and assist in connecting teens and young adults transitioning out of foster care to employment and other resources. Through this work, the consultant will contribute to a culture of belonging and well-being across Foster Success’s impact areas and help young people build the knowledge, confidence, and resources they need to thrive beyond foster care.
Contract Terms:
● Contract Value: $35.00/hour
● Term & Time: It is anticipated that the contractor will need to commit 35 - 45 hours each week to meet the objectives of this role. This contract is funded from October 2026 - August 9, 2027 with potential for extension based on funding.

Organization Overview
Foster Success’s mission is to hear, support, and empower teens and young adults transitioning out of foster care on their journey to self-sufficiency. We are committed to improving the foster care system and ensuring that teens and young adults transitioning out of foster care are educated, housed, financially stable, employed, and connected to a support system by age 26. Our team accomplishes this through program delivery, policy change, and partnership developments in the areas of K-12 & post-secondary education, workforce development, health & well-being, financial empowerment, and youth engagement.
Primary Deliverables
● Program Administration & Training: Deliver workforce readiness training curriculum, which includes topics such as: career exploration, resumes, cover letters, interviews, workplace communication and conflict resolution, etc. Assist in the management and delivery of the workforce classes including preparing relevant program content, recruiting eligible participants, collaborating with the development team to recruit volunteers, securing supplies, technological supports, and space. Work collaboratively with the Assistant Director of Program Delivery and Workforce Readiness team to manage peer leader participation to ensure preparedness for program class sessions.
● Career Coaching and Barrier Navigation: Work one-on-one with Workforce participants to develop goals and objectives in a personalized employment plan. Assess career challenges and troubleshoot barrier busting strategies with program participants. Provide personalized feedback on job search documents and mock interviews. Assist participants in finding and maintaining meaningful employment consistent with their goals. Refer young people to employer partners, training partners, and career development resources. Develop and distribute job search resources for young people with foster care experience. Collaborate with Foster Success team members for resource referral and navigation.
● Data Reporting and Tracking: Assist the Assistant Director of Program Delivery in building and maintaining the Foster Success Salesforce data system to collect participant information and track related outcomes. Prepare and maintain case files, records, reports, and forms accurately and completely in real time.
Position Requirements
● Bachelor’s degree with 2 years of experience working with individuals affected by foster care, individuals from diverse backgrounds, or involved in the justice system.
● Demonstrated success in the areas of program implementation, service coordination, and attention to detail.
● Experience working with young adults between the ages of 14-26 from diverse backgrounds and the ability to create inclusive environments for both participants and partners.
● Demonstrates comfort working alongside teens and young adults with varying strengths and challenges.
● Ability to represent Foster Success with regional community partners, agencies, etc.
● Ability to work well independently and as a member of a highly integrated and diverse team.
● Requires periodic regional travel across Marion, Lake, and St. Joseph counties.

Contractor Requirements:
● Adhere to all policies and procedures outlined in the contract agreement terms.
● Maintain confidentiality of all client and organizational information in alignment with the Contract Agreement.
● Provide necessary technology, secure internet connection, and software proficiency (Salesforce, Zoom, Microsoft/Google suites).
● Hold a valid driver’s license, reliable personal transportation, and willingness to travel regionally across target Indiana counties.
● Maintain schedule flexibility to facilitate evening or weekend sessions as required by program schedules.
● All contractors are required to pass a background check and undergo fingerprint screening.
